The exterior of this building served as a backdrop for the Geological Institute where Marie and Haukur work. In reality, the visitor center "Caños de Fuego" is located here. The "Caños de Fuego" visitor center was created as a result of the discovery of a series of volcanic tubes in the Las Manchas area, originating from the solidification of the lava that emerged from the eruption of the San Juan volcano in 1949. It is a center that aims to educate its visitors about the geological formations that develop during and after volcanic eruptions, while at the same time emphasizing the ecological importance of the fragility and preservation of the ecosystems surrounding the center.
