Helicopter landing area on the Tungusk weather station helipad. The beginning of MacGyver's expedition through the wilderness. For the series, the helipad was built on the side of the road, in a location where, below, the trees were much fewer and taller than they are today. Location verified by analyzing tree density on old aerial photos, and by identifying the guyed telecommunications antenna visible behind the fir trees near Mt. Seymour Resort at the time of the helicopter landing.
