The gas station

The starting point of the series. For the petrol pump where Grandpa Quarles gives Anthony van Slingelandt a lift to Runkum, a Shell petrol station on the N236 between Weesp and Bussum near Ankeveen was used. Since then, this petrol station has been extensively renovated and has changed companies, but the surroundings remain virtually the same. Across the road is the spot from where the footage was shot of Van Slingelandt driving up in his "Duck," which we know as the first scenes in the series.
